City Place Names and their Modification in Child Speech

The anthropocentric focus of contemporary linguistic research highlights the specificity individual worldview which includes a personal sense toponymy. studies discussing ways that toponymic concepts are apprehended, memorized, and retrieved from memory usually based on experimental data. But looking at irregular changes toponyms may receive in speech is no less informative. Children’s proves most valuable source for this, since it bound to language norms everyday communication, makes modifications more distinct. author uses collection (more than 170 items) St.-Petersburg toponym children 3–11 years old, drawing some conclusions about peculiarities their auditory perception (the role frequency, phonemic supra-phonemic word features building semantic awareness, phoneme patterns recognition by processes etymologizing rethinking internal form word), memorizing storing information study child’s vocabulary connections semantization words including proper common nouns; making up grammatical forms course multiple reproduction). Analysis this real-life data brings clarity over structural functional aspects systems manifestations. obtained can be used creating speech, memory, attention training programs, as well local history.
